BTW, Never Gone, are those overlays on your headlights or modified headlights? Whichever they are, they're nice. What kind of custom grille is that too?

Thanks man. I have overlays on the headlight from Lamin-x. Great products, very high quality. The grill is a gallia grill and I had the mesh painted silver instead of black.

As to your other post, it's a whole different ball game if you have to park outside all the time.

Also, on the Flex - Everything I've read suggests that it is a better machine than the PC 7424. However, there is currently only one size backing plate available. Therefore you can't use a pad smaller than 6.5". I have done details without smaller pads, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm looking into getting a Flex as well, but I'm still not giving up my PC.
there are 4" pads for the pc... makes paint correction much faster/efficient as the energy is concentrated on a smaller center... i think even detailedimage carries, but if not just do a quick search online and you'll find it...

Yeah, I know there are 4" pads for the PC. You misunderstood me.

You can't use smaller pads for the Flex. I've read about people using a lathe to machine their backing plates down to a smaller size. I've also heard that Edge pads have an adaptor that works with the Flex.

But I definitely want to keep using 4" pads for certain parts of the car. so if I had to choose between a PC and a Flex, I would choose the PC. Even though the flex is a "better" machine.

What is the best product for wheel wells and tires. I have alot of soot and grime on the inner rims that I can't seem to get to with anything. Anything that sprays on work well? I used some Eagle One cleaner that worked decently, but im trying to get totally cleaned......any suggestions????

if you live in the desert, that won't last 2 days, in a calm sunny week

An ounce of prevention = a pound of cure.

There is no miracle product that will do what you are asking. Acidic cleaners and degreasers like Eagle One will work fairly well. But to get "totally clean" as you say, you need to start from scratch.

Take the wheels off of the car and clean them with a strong soap and brush. Then apply a few coats of a good sealant and/or wax. A good wax/sealant will help prevent the accumulation of brake dust and grime. Therefore your wheels will stay cleaner longer. They will also be easier to clean going forward.

Ghaleon0721 three questions:

1) How long does it take you to wash your car with all those steps you use? I tried to follow your lead, but I felt I may be taking to long (but that just may be because Im doing everything by hand and its something Im not accustomed to doing yet).

2) How many pads, towels, microfibers do you go through on average for everything? Im trying to figure out when I should be switching out all that stuff during the washing process.

3) What's a good wax/sealant to use on the wheels? Im not comfortable taking my wheels off, especially since I don't have a wheel jack. BTW, anyone have a wheel jack for an 04 coupe they'd be willing to sell????

Usually I'll spend one full day (and usually into the evening) to do everything I listed up until the first coat of sealant. Subsequent coats come after the sealant has 'cured' which usually takes about 10 - 12 hours. There is no way to tell visually if your sealant has cured so the longer you leave it the safe you will be. However 12 hours is more than enough time. Also, you don't have to do the 2nd coat exactly 12 hours after the first. I've applied a second coat a full week after the first. But it just means you have to re-wash.

2) How many pads, towels, microfibers do you go through on average for everything? Im trying to figure out when I should be switching out all that stuff during the washing process. I'll usually end up with at least one very full load of laundry by the time I'm done.

I'm not sure how 'normal' waxes bond to metal rims but I don't think you'll have a problem. DP makes a Wheel Glaze that works on all kinds of rims. I usually start with Klasse AIO or a cleaner wax to clean the surface and serve as a base for whatever LSP I'm going to use.COLOR]
