its been 7 months, do i need to claybar?

i got my car last october, ever since then i've been washing my car every 2 weeks, its a black obsidan... so yes i need to be on point with keeping it clean... i havent waxed it yet and i think its time that i do it, especially for the summer, parking outside can get hot down south. But i was wondering if you guys suggest i clarbar my car b4 i wax it, cause its been 7 months w/o wax, it still has the factory wax or whatever... i plan on ordering a bottle of CG Quick to do the job with...

but if you guys recommend me claybarring b4 i wax, what kind of claybar can i buy locally at like an autozone or walmart, i really need this done ASAP... my car needs protection...

so tell me if this is right...

1. rinse my car
2. wash with dawn soap to strip of old wax
3. dry my car
4. claybar
5. rerinse the car down
6. apply cg quick
7. wipe off

is that correct? i never claybarred b4 and it sounds like a very looong tiring process...

also when applying cg quick and rubbing it off, can i use a microfiber cloth? i got some from walmart.. 70% i think... or do i need a certain rag? i wash my car with microfiber mitt and dry with the big blue microfiber towel... so im thinking applying the cg quick and buffin it out with a mf towel would be fine?

some ppl say i should use cotton clothes, but that looks harsh to me, so im not sure... its on a black car so i want to be sure... you know, the swirly marks and all, just trying to be careful

There is really no set amount of time that is required between clay bar applications. What you need to do is run your hand across the paint and feel if it is smooth. If it feels rough, you need to clay bar.

Your procedure for doing it sounds right on.
