Re: Help...I need cleaning tips

Congrats on your car....I have IP also....
The clear coat on this car can scratch and leave swirl marks if your not careful about your cleaning maintenance.

I use a lambs wool mitt to wash my car, and another for my wheels and the bottom of my car only.....

Use a good quality car soap, one that will gently lift the dirt and not remove any wax.......I use Mothers Gold car wash soap
Always start at the top on the car and work your way down........
Keep the wash mitt clean and rinse often to eliminate any particles that may damage your surface.....

After rinsing off the soap, flood the car with the hose water with out a nozzle ......this will sheet the water off the car and help to keep your drying with a towel to a minimum.......

Use only a quality soft 100% cotton towel or micro fiber towel, and gently absorb the remaining water......

Scratches and swirl marks are a fact of life, but if you use a little common sense and treat your surface kindly, you will save yourself alot of grief in maintaining its mirror finish....

As far as waxing, there are so many brands and opinions that It will leave your head spinning and confused.......I have over the years tried many different types, and I feel the best shine and depth is obtained with carnuaba wax such as Pinnacle souveran or P21S.
They do have a short term protection due to their nature, but the jetting factor is much higher than the acrylics/synthetics such as KLASSE or Zaino.........
Some people as myself, use the Klasse acrylic All In One Polish and Sealant Glaze, and then top it off with a couple coats of P21S or any quality wax...(just make sure its compatible with the acyrlics if you go that route)

Check out www.autogeek.net or www.properautocare.comthey are only two of the many sites that supply a good variety of product lines.....

Wheels are also required to be kept clean and waxed, so keep up with them as well...... use a low acid wheel cleaner and keep the brake dust build up to a minimum
Watch alot of the tire shine products...they tend to "sling" the excess on the rear of your wheel wells, and some will stain your paint if left on for a length of time....

Mr. Clean auto wash....that thing rocks. it really works, no water spots and I have hard water over here. well, ok it does leave a few spots here and there, but nothing a quick detailer spray can't easily remove. Seriously though, you gotta try it.

Re: Help...I need cleaning tips

Cleaning products I use. I'm not saying these are the best, but I'll give you my opinion on each of the above products. All the items are available at Wal-Mart. I purchased the AutoDry from Sams Club because it came with a full bottle of soap instead of the smaller starter bottle.

From left to right..
Water - This is for you if you have to work in the sun.

Dupi-Color Wheel Coating - Only used if you damaged your wheels, honestly its not matching the color of my stock 6-spoke wheels but its the closest thing I have found.

Paper towel roll - For Wheel Coating so spray will always be 11 inches away from wheel when spraying and it doesn't go everywhere.

Oops! Waterbased Remover and Cleaner - Harsh cleaner, only to be used as last resort.

Invisible Glass - For the windows, use black & white crumpled newspaper if you don't have a lint free cloths or towels.

Mr. Clean Auto Dry Cash Wash and Refill Filter & Soap - Nice time saver. You rinse, wash with soap, rinse, rinse with filter and if you want, you can dry your car or let it sit for about three hours and self dry. I would not recommend self-dry if there is a lot of traffic on your street, water picks up all dirt from the wind, car fumes and adds it back to the car.

Eagle One Wax As-U-Dry - Its ok. I'm expecting to get about five uses out of this '12 Uses' spray bottle.

TurtleWax Wet'n Black Tire Dressing - Very good product, however when you spray it, some of lands on the driveway (or wherever you wash your car) and it'll stay there for about three months. So, I take this with me to Wal-Mart and spray it on my tires when I'm in their parking lot. Let it dry while you do some browsing. You only have to let it sit for about 10 minutes and its done.

Turtlewax Wheel Cleaner - I use this stuff a lot, works very well. It doesn't contain Acid and you will need a soft sponge or good mitt when cleaning the wheels. You cannot just spray on and wash off like the instructions say.

Turtlewax Blade - For drying windows a little faster. Its half the price of the California Blade, results are the same.
