Black G Owners READ!

For those of you experiencing sandblasted front-ends, I have found a new product that worked well for me. It's Turtle Wax Color Match for black cars. It fills in the little chips with a black dye. It goes on and comes off like a wax. the dye does not stick to clear coat.
The only draw back that I noticed is that it comes off with soap and water. But I checked it out in direct sunlight and my front bumper looked much better after applying it. The greyish look was turned into a wet black look. I'll try to post some pics later.

Yeah, I use this stuff on my 1985 318is and it works pretty good. The little black lipstick thing that comes with it is good for deep marks.

Re: Black G Owners READ!

It only "diminshes the appearance" of scratches. It appears to be a dyed wax...somewhere between water colors and paint. It won't seem to wash off my terry applicator so use one that you don't plan on using for anything else. I probably wouldn't use it on a newer car. Remember, always use the least intrusive method. This is pretty last resort in my opinion.....right before re-painting.

I applied it on the very bottom of my bumper. An hour later I washed it to see if it would come off and it came off. The dye fills in the spots where paint chips occur. After I saw the results, I applied it to the entire front of the bumper. It worked well for me.

Did it wash off where the paint chips were too? I've had our car in some pretty hard rains and it seems to be holding up quite well. I wish they made in in Ivory Pearl, the bumper is an awesome place to use it and a great alternative to touch up paint.

A clear bra is so much easier and better - why mess with "coverups" ???

I don't like messing with either. Problem I have with the clear bra is the ridge (or dirt and smegma collector) it leaves. Much like the superfluous protectant just fore of the rear wheels. Because it has a height, it's edge is pronounced, visible, and will collect grime. It's hard to clean and I don't like the appearance of that edge any more than chips.

For now, I just try to keep my distance behind other vehicles and stay off rough roads.

Re: Black G Owners READ!

clearbra is OK but but I don't like the way it looks under certain light (looks dull to me) And every darked colored car I've seen with it has bubbles. If I keep a car for a while, I normally get my front bumper repainted after it starts looking bad anyway. But this stuff seems to work pretty well .

It did come off the chipped spots as well. But that may be because I wax my bumpers every time I wash my car. (One a week.)
