I finally threw down and bought a porter cable 7424 w/ the orange, white, and grey pads. Also bought Mezerna Intensive Polish and Final Polish, and Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish. But I wasn't about to try this straight on my lightly swirled G, so my friend was nice enough to let us practice on his never waxed, never garaged, black '99 (I think) Accord. Pics to follow.

Our initial method was:
(1) wash - and I mean really wash, this car was dirty
(2) clay where needed
(3) DACP using PC
(4) IP using PC
(5) FP using PC
(6) wax w/ whatever from autozone (why waste Klasse on a car like this?)

We actually got lazy and skipped steps 2, 4, and 5 after we realized it would take all day and night to do those. All the steps were done on the trunk for practice. Plus my buddy was just gonna give this car to his dad, he didn't care how anally good it really looked.

My impressions are as follows:
- don't expect to get out the deep scratches that are through the clearcoat.
- Meguiars DACP w/ the orange pad is pretty aggressive, and my friend would have had better results if he finished it up w/ Mezerna IP (or 3M Swirl Mark remover) then the Mezerna FP using the white pad.
- The PC is definitely worth the money.
