how often should i CG or Zaino

i have CG express. car is only used in dry weather. i wash it about twice every 3 weeks, which is just to get dust off of it.

about a month ago, i did the CG thing. almost did it again last night.

how often should it be done.
although i'm CG, i figure zaino guys would have an opinion

Well if you only drive in dry weather? Wash twice in 3 weeks I'd say do a real go zaino about 4-5months, and after you wash touch up if Z-6.

I know nothing about this so called Crystal G!!!

Re: how often should i CG or Zaino

here in texas i apply 5 coats of z2/z5 once every 6 months. i wash about once every 2-3 weeks with zaino car wash.

i use z6 all the time though, its a very quick way to keep the car up. basically i don't allow the car to get dirty enough to require a full wash that often.

Re: how often should i CG or Zaino

a lot of people, myself included, will layer another coat of CG after each wash with soap that doesn't strip wax. maybe once a month or every 3 weeks. i think at one point, either ramborami or geobau had 4-5 coats total. i put 2 CG coats on mine and it still shines even after a heavy rainstorm. i CG both the exterior and the rims. see below. to get the dust off of a clean car, why not try the california duster? so basically, since you use CG on the car driven only in dry weather, you can use a spray bottle of water and a microfiber cloth to keep it clean. geobau does that to his car, and it's super shiny.

CG post-rainstorm...

happy cleaning.

Re: how often should i CG or Zaino

I use this mr.clean car wash stuff. hahahaha. havent waxed my car since i bought it, but i plan to soon. gotta buy some zaino in a few weeks. this mr. clean car wash stuff is awesome though. Its an attachment that connects to your hose. It has three modes: soap, rinse, and dry. The bad thing is you must refill the attachment with soap and filters which go quick. Its super convenient becuase all u do is spray on dry mode and i guess this "iodized" water dries the car. No towels or anything. You just spray and watch your baby dry in a matter of minutes. Ill probably upgrade to a different soap because im not sure if mr.clean strips the wax or not. I feel like im using generic stuff though lol. everyone uses zaino.

Re: how often should i CG or Zaino

haha it most likely will just like the other one.

alright now seriously though guys, i admit that i havent ever waxed a car because this g is my first nice car that i would ever spend time waxing. and i've noticed that 89% of this forum swears by zaino and would trust their newborn baby with its inventor. but is it really the best one? i was talking to a guy who just bought an "electric blue" (as he described it) acura cl and he's really into detailing and all. he said for my black g he would recommend meguiar's wax cause it supposedly is the best for dark cars...now theres also the new eagle1 nanowax that i've heard some good things from.

i'm obviously no wax expert so if you guys can give me some (unbiased) opinions i would appreciate it...thanks a lot.

Re: how often should i CG or Zaino

I used to Zaino my black '98 Accord coupe. One time I put on like 3-4 coats and someone who didn't know that I polished my car told me during a sunny day that my headlights were on. I looked at it and realized that it was the sun reflecting off the lens. That's when I knew Zaino truly got the goods. The car just SHINES!

Re: how often should i CG or Zaino

For my coupe, I plan on working up to 5 or 6 coats of Zaino (at 4 coats right now).
This is what it looks like after 3 coats:

I've never used Crystal Guard, so I don't know how well it works. But Zaino definitely does it for me.

Re: how often should i CG or Zaino

now, what is the opinion on california or other drying blade. i currenly use chamois

then follow the "late" drips with cotton towel

Re: how often should i CG or Zaino

I never tried the blade to dry, but IMO I have found that synthetic chamois tend to reduce the life of the wax. Could be my imagination, but it's my opinion, call me nuts. I found the best way to dry was to give the car a final rinse without a nozzle, water will just disperse (especially if it's been waxed) and then I follow up with a microfiber drying towel I picked up from Griots Garage. Works like a champ!!!
