Leaf blower purchase....
Leaf blower purchase....
Im thinking of buying a leaf blower specifically for drying my g lol... im just so tired of hard water spots on my car (now i know what my mom was freaking aobut with hardwater spots on the silverware and dishes all those years lol). I am looking on ebay and they have some CHEAP blowers that i could get... I know absolutly nothing about what im doing and this would be something for just my car like i said so i dont wanna spend a TON of money.... but i feel that it'll be worth it in the end (i wash my car alone and have lots of trouble drying it before water drys and leaves spots or streaks (black on black coupe). If someone did a search for me and found something cheap that would work for my purposes and not just die and crap out i would appreciate it.

How cheap are you looking for? I got a Craftsman electric leaf blower for $30. Just get something basic. You don't need a vacuum or all kinds of attachments.

Re: Leaf blower purchase....
I just purchased an electric leaf blower off of eBay, one of the CHEAP ones, used Buy It Now for $16 + shipping. Look at the air flow rating. This cheap one is rated at about 100 cubic feet per minute (CFM). The better ones can do 280-300 CFM. I chose the lower power one because I figured since I'm going to be drying my car with it, rather than blowing leaves around, I don't wanna end up blowing stuff off the ground onto my car because of too much airflow.
I could be wrong, though. When my leaf blower comes in the mail, I'll let ya know how I like it for drying the car.

This is mine. Toro 700 RakeVac. 7 amp does the trick. Bought it a few years ago. Drys my G (excellent), blows grass clippings (excellent) and vacuums leaves (sucks). Who knows if they make it anymore but it works. Just make sure there is no debris on the ground when you blow dry.
Q - Forgot it adds 3 +/- 3 hp ....where's that extension cord???

Make sure you wet down all the area around the car, or you'll blow dirt right back onto the car, and then mar the paint when you go to wipe it down with your drying towel. I personally only use it on the cracks and wheels to eliminate a majority of the water, and then finish up with a few MFs with quick detailer to minimize marring
Are you washing your car in the sun?
The only times I have a problem with water spots are the times that I have to wash in the sun. This is somewhat preventable by washing one area and drying it right away.
Although I find this method hard to do with the G for some reason. I always end up getting the dry parts wet again haha.
haha, yes. If you think that this may be a bit "****" or "obsessive" you've not ventured out to a true automotive detailing forum lately. We are weird

i use a cordless one i bought at Acehardware for like $30. it was on
sale. i think it was a 115mph one and does the job well.
just remember to charge it prior to use. i dont like running extension
cords on wet driveways so thats why i went with the cordless... plus,
easy to use.

115mph one will not have enough power to pickup dirt...that's one of
the reasons why i got a cordless as it has ample power, but not too much.
for drying try Griot's Thick MF towel. i have 2 of those. one will do a
car without wringing.

I don't use a leaf blower to dry the car, but if you ever need a real leaf blower for leaf duty, the Homelite and Sthl ($$) back pck units are the way to go. I have the Homelite and LOVE IT. However, it is gas and thus would really stink for the car.
I have a Metro Vac n' Blo that can be used for drying but again, I have not tried that either.
I find that 2 large waffle weave microfibers so a wonderful job drying. I use the Pak Shak blue ones right now and love them.
