CG/Zaino

My car's coming in in a day or so. I purchased all my Zaino products so I would be ready to keep her clean. I've also noticed alot of threads about CG. Is CG a wax or just a polish like Zaino (if that even makes sense)? The reason I ask is in relation to paint chips. I heard alot of people complaining about paint chips and I thought that a wax might help somewhat. Does that make sense and if so, will using something like CG help?

Can CG be used with Zaino?

Sorry for all the questions, but just want to know how to keep her as good looking as possible.

Thanks

Re: CG/Zaino

CG is harder than Zaino, but doesn't fill swirls.

Zaino is relatively softer, but fills swirls.

I use CG on parts that are newly painted or still in pristine condition, and Zaino to work on those that need a little TLC to look their best. They are not compatible, no, as both of them are specifically designed to bond with your paint, not with polymers.

If you've got a brand new car, I'd CG it. As long as you keep on top of your applications, you'll never even have to look at Zaino to keep it looking good. If, however, you let your car slide a little, use Zaino to give it some shine.

CG = Crystal Guard. Look on the left side of the site, towards the bottom under "sponsors".

btw, I'm not lauding their product because they're a sponsor, I've been doing it for ages...

I think we were their official Indy crew... I'm trying to convert Vegas, but it seems too "Cali" to appreciate long-lasting quality over superficiality kidding

I'm picking up my new TWB G next week. How long should I wait before applying CG?

Re: CG/Zaino

g35_4_me... i would apply it as soon as you can. the first time that you are able to wash the car by hand would be perfect. i would wash with dawn dishwashing soap, claybar (this is up to you - some do it, some don't), and then apply CG. congrats and great color choice. clean TB will definitely make people do a double take. happy CGing. p.s. this section has really good threads on CG application and taking care of dark-colored Gs, as well as pics of CGed cars.

Re: CG/Zaino

Had the G since Oct 03...been using CG since the 1st week. I love how fast it is and the shine. Just make sure you Dawn the car before 1st app. Noticed the wax from the dealer didnt come off after the 1st wash. had to do it twice.

CG/Zaino

muscarel, I have used Zaino for a long time, but am of the opinion that all of the top polymer products (Zaino. Klasse, Wolfgang, CG) are all very good and that preferences between these would be primarily be very minor.

Zaino Z5 will hide very minor swirls, while Z2 is has no fillers at all.

Since you've already purchased all the Zaino products, I don't think buying CG makes sense for you. They're both very good, as are Klasse, Wolfgang, and others.

As to whether CG or Zaino or any other sealant will protect you from paint chips, NO they won't. Whichever sealant you apply, the thickness on top of your paint would be very very thin. Not thick enough to protect you from rocks. Most people strongly recommend a clear bra on the front bumper and hood at least. Get a clear bra!

Re: CG/Zaino

I've personally used CG on my black car and the shine is outstanding. It will make you're paint look like glass. I stopped using it because it doesn't fill scratches. I've used zaino and prefer Crystal guard just because i really like the way crystal guard makes my paint look like glass. Once i've taken car all of my swirls and scratches, I would buy another bottle of CG quick. The new formula that just recently came out sounds interesting.

mr E... no prob!

weren't you a zaino user? i've heard that zaino hides swirls. if not, it sounds like you should either go professional detailer or invest in an orbital buffer to get rid of those swirls. oh, and how about meguiar's scratch X for those hairlines? good luck.

Re: CG/Zaino

I had great success recently with the Klasse AIO/Pinancle Souveran combo for my black G35 Sedan. I too had major hard-water spots and some swirl marks. The Klasse AIO removed all the hard-water sports and most if not all the swirl marks (and stripped the old wax) and the shine looked decent as well. But, then, I waited 12 hours for the Klasse AIO to cure and applied the Pinancle Liq. Souveran carnuba wax on top...WOW!!!! The 2 together...the Klasse AIO synthetic wax as a base coat (which is suppose to last 6 mo. or so) worked great for taking those nasty spots and marks out, and the Pinancle Souveran carnuba on top just deepens the crystal black mirror shine.

I've heard the Zaino is the best and the CG is great as well, but I am very happy with these 2 products and if you have a black car, I highly recommend trying them as a combo ($25 for each). I just added a 2nd coat of the Pinnacle a week ago and I'm hoping I won't have to start over (with the Klasse AIO first and then the Pinancle on top) for at least 4 mo.

Re: CG/Zaino

I want to use CG, but I just found some swirls on my car.

How much would it cost to go to a professional detailer to get rid of the swirls. I don't mean a guy who uses a glaze. I am talking about no kidding getting rid of my swirls.

I live in LA btw

Lil help guys
