Need advice on neglected paint
New member to the forum and new G35 owner. The G that I just purchased was evidently owned previously by a woman that kept her fingernails long. I have several nicks in the interior near the window buttons, gear shift and door handles. Since I'm a complete novice on detailing, what would be my best plan of attack on the exterior of the car? As it is right now it has absolutely zero wax on it and is in dire need of attention. The upshot to this is that it's not black.
Sorry I cannot really help w/ the interior nicks. I'm sure someone else can chime in on that. As far as the exterior, depending on the condition, you may need some polishing done. Even if you are not going to polish or get it polished (preferably w/ a random orbital like a porter cable/flex), you should definitely get it sealed in the meantime. (synthetic sealant/wax) I would start w/ a wash, dry, clay, and then seal for now. This will help protect your paint from any further damage from the elements.

But we need picures of the car in side and out to really say any thing.
Wash it ASAP, dry, clay bar, wax. Do this around once a month. But wash it once a week in between the monthly details.
You need to do a polish at some point to buff out the light scratches, nicks, and imperfections on the paint. As for the interior, maybe someone else could help out.
Also, if you can, park the car inside the garage, away from the heat, rain, gardeners, children playing outside, and burglars.
Edit: If its not too late, consider getting a clear bra on the front bumper, headlights, and side view mirrors !
