Wax for the Rims

Are you guys putting regular wax on the rims? I just picked up Maguires wax can I put this on the rims, or do I need to buy special wax for the rims?

Meguiar's, or anything else, is fine. The stock rims are painted with a basecoat/clearcoat like your car's body.

Yeah any clearcoat safe wax should be cool. Mothers makes a product called Clearcoat Wheel Polish that I like a lot.

Humm...I wonder with the semi-high temp that rims can get would just burn off any wax? I've used wax before and really didn't notice a difference.

Re: Wax for the Rims

The main difference is it'll help prevent the brake dust from eating the paint off your rims before you get a chance to clean them.

Re: Wax for the Rims

I use normal Meguiars Wax #26 on my rims since I haven't bought wheel wax for the car. The car wax seems to work just as well as the wheel wax. I noticed that it came from the dealeship that way. Remember to also put it on your orange brembo brake calipers to prevent brake dust from eating the paint.
