I'm not too familiar with this Crystal Guard Quick product but it is similar to Eagle One's Wax-As-U-Dry...it seems like the same idea. I used the eagle one product last week before NJ was hit with the perfect storm and rained for days. I love coming out to my car every morning (that sits outside) and still seeing water beading off like a new coat of wax was just put on. This stuff really helps and definitely lasts at least a couple weeks considering the weather it's been through the past few days in central jersey.

Go to Crystal Guard's website and tell them your story - they are eagerly trying to expand their business in the USA and will likely be really helpful. They may even comp you on a replacement bottle, just to stand behind their product. I used Crystal Guard Pro 2 months ago, and mine is still beading just fine - but I'm still wary and watching, because it's too early to be sure of anything. I also have some Crystal Guard Quick, which I was told to use as a "tuneup" every 4 months or so.

Keep us posted on this - these guys are sponsors of our website, so we want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but don't want to endorse their product blindly, either !!

(FYI - I spoke to their rep on the phone a couple of times, as well as exchanged e-mails - he tries to be as helpful as possible, in my experience. My son also went to their shop in Mountain View, California to pick up the product directly, and he says there really are several awesome looking exotic cars on the premises, just like their video shows).

mr E... when i apply and spread the CG quick, i don't rinse the car down again. i just wait until it starts to get a little hazy and then "buff" the haze away. scrap the manufacturer's instructions. i follow the ones from this forum. i think that when you rinsed your car down the 2nd time after CG application, you may have also rinsed away (and maybe wiped off, depending on how you dried) most of the CG, since it takes overnight for it to bond to your paint. just 1 coat of CG got me through an entire midwest winter. and if you read the other CG threads, you'll see what my CG'ed car looks like after a day of rain. i have no doubt that CG quick will last you more than 3-4 days. good luck.

I believe that CG has a recommended setup / bond time before it should be washed down. For CG Quick, I think the time period is something like 24-48 hours. So perhaps it rained hard on your car in less time and the CG Quick got washed off?

Don't give up on Crystal Guard! It's definitely a fine product and does a good job of protecting your paint.

I can't believe you used a whole bottle!! what are you made of money??
that stuff's expensive man! most people here usually dilute it with some water in a spray bottle.

Try giving it some time to bond to your paint next time. You should also read the CG website for more info... I think they say that CG reacts with water and creates a "crystal layer" on your paint.

ok, you're giving me 2nd thoughts about ordering cg quick... hrmmm... I thought it was an excellent product until you mentioned that you had problems with it. I really don't wanna go the zaino route, too many steps and I really don't have time to go with zaino

 

Welll here is how i do it just to maintain

1) wash with mild soap (meguiars gold class)

2) dry removing all water

3) one hand have CG the other a spray bottle with distilled H20, spray some h20 and then a touch of CG, spread and wipe for each section

4) continue for all sections and you can even use the excess in the microfiber towel to go over spots you have done already...basically like 2 or 3 coats in one application

5) let it sit for 2 hours or so done wipe anything off yet, come back after 2 hours and spray the car with distilled h20 and remove all excess...


I have done two coats like this and after the first one it beaded like crazy after a rainstorm and i didnt even do that good of a job, after my last weekends application i did a much better job on it and it feels like glass and when the next storm hits ill let you know about the beading and take pics...
i dont know why people are saying it doesnt bead or feel smooth, my applications do both...weird...ill get pics after a storm though...
BTW i got these directions from My350z.com, some tips and tricks the guys didnt release out to everyone...so i dont know if the way im applying makes the difference but sure as hell mine works beautifully...
if its your first app, make sure you wash with dawn and claybar, then remove swirls before CGing...

Hmm... Your account of what you experienced with CG Quick goes against the statements made by Jim Campos from Crystal Guard, Mr. Elusive, and my own account. The first application will make the water bead, but like Mr. Elusive and what Jim Campos said, after CG has cured,the water does not bead, but sheets off the panels. I see this mostly on the hood with little beading on the roof and sides of the car. I've been using the following method to apply CG Quick:

1. Wash car with Meguiar's Gold Class
2. While car is wet, I spray CG Quick in sections and spread with MF towel
3. Rinse with Mr. Clean Autodry filtered spray

This roughly follows the manufacturer's directions and I try to do this about once a month. At first, I was concerned with the water not beading, but I was convinced that CG is on their protecting my car after a few roadchip experiences. I've seen a marked improvement in the ability to resist chips and scratches from highway debris. Not to say that it is impervious to all chips, but I've been through a few close calls and have been pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't as bad as I would have expected without CG.

I think eventually, we will all turn to Zaino as swirls, road chips, and scratches are inevitable. For me, I'll be on CG until I finish my two big bottles of CG Quick.

Outside of CG is my complaint about the glass on the car. It is WAY TOO SOFT! I already have a small pit from some debris on my windshield and a small nick on my passenger side window. What kind of crap glass do they use? If it's a safety feature, I'd rather have the harder glass!

Wow, I must say I'm a bit impressed with all the analysis of our CrystalGuard product. I will say that I have noticed people apply our products in many different ways, but the two methods described both work. I'm not sure if anyone has tried the new version of CG Quick, but this stuff is just amazing and from our experiences, it does not haze very much. That being the case, I don't think there is a need to wait for the car to cure before you rinse off the residue.

The effect you should have is a sheeting effect, very similar to RainX. The car should almost dry itself because water doesn't seem to even stay on the paint. It almost looks like it evaporates off (strange analogy, but once you try it, you'll understand what I mean). I think the one thing any CG user will say is how easy it is to maintain the car's shine...Zaino seems to be a long and drawn out process in comparison.
