OK, I am ready for the rice comments, but I need to ask any way. Has anyone done or thought of doing some interior painting to match the outside color? E.g. IP exterior and painting the trim IP or a reasonable match.

I doubt you would be happy with any interior repaint you could do, I did that on a Mustang I had some years back, it looked like it had been painted, my metal on the door panels , it just looked tacky IMO!

I think if done right it wouldnt look that bad. Just make sure you have a real paint shop spray it.
