Meguiars Quick Detail Spray question
Meguiars Quick Detail Spray question
just to be sure, are these quick sprays a form of wax? i mean i know it says on the back to use it between washes and stuff, but will it be safe over a layer of cg quick or zaino? Or is this meant to be used on untreated surfaces with no layer of anything on the paint?
I heard most ppl use this usually at car shows to quickly rid of finger prints, bird crap, sap, water spots? Is this safe to be used on a car that hasnt been washed for like a week? Cause of all the dust on it, wouldnt it scratch the paint surface?
Kind of scared in a way. I mean I want to use it for like after it rains sometimes and has water spots, but not sure if i apply this on and rub it off, that it will be safe for my paint.
I been reading up on the detail forum, and im just confused with all these terms...
Wax,Polish,Polymers...
and I thought all this time that zaino and cg quick are waxes, if they're not wax, then what are they? Isn't polish and wax the same thing?
If zaino is a polish, wouldnt you usually wax after you polish? Sorry for the question guys, I'm just confused a lil...

Re: Meguiars Quick Detail Spray question
Basically the quick spray or detailer spray is a wax that is used in between wash and waxing to maintain the surface.
If you use detail spray on a real dusty or dirty car, you run the risk of putting some light scratch/swirl marks on your car..You should get in the practice of washing the car often, and follow up with the detail spray after you wipe the car down....
I have never used the detail spray for water spots....I usually wash my car twice a week, each time I use the detail spray, and leave the surface of the car alone until I wash it again....
CG and Zaino are synthetic forms of wax, and have a longer lasting effect than conventional carnauba waxes....and I would use their detail spray...it contains the same synthetic polymers for added protection in between applications.....
There are Polishes...which are used to prep the surface, and then you wax. And then there are cleaner/waxes which do the same thing in a one step application....usually the better products are either two or even three step process...ie cleaner/polish/wax
If you note Zaino has several steps to achieve the maximum shine.
Many people use a polymer based product and follow up with a top coat of high quality carnauba wax, for the maximum shine.....
Problem with carnauba waxes, they don't last a long time under severe conditions. they tend to evaporate quickly in high heat, and usually require more frequent applications....I still favor the synthetic base with a good quality wax.....I'm just old school.........

Re: Meguiars Quick Detail Spray question
Exactly. As stated above, you are supposed to use it after washing, but before waxing. I normally just wash my car with meguiars shampoo and condit. then dry the car and see how it looks. I spray some detailer on the blotchy parts or parts that spotted. Its really a great product. It really is one of the best products meguiars makes in my opinion. You should try it!.

Re: Meguiars Quick Detail Spray question
I use it after it rains, quite often, and have never had a problem with scratching. If you got a good downpour that washed off whatever was on the paint before, you're probably okay. You have to use good judgement though. If it looks/feels pretty dirty/dusty, I recommend NOT going directly over it with the Detailer mist; give it a real wash first... But anyway, it is a great product that I highly recommend.

Re: Meguiars Quick Detail Spray question
I use it all the time and prefer it over actually washing the car. The trick is you need to go over the car first with a California Duster to get the dust off then use the Meguiars Quick Detailer with light pressure and you won't scratch it. I usually only drive my car on the weekends and not in the rain but after about 2 drives I will wipe the wheels and detail it.

Re: Meguiars Quick Detail Spray question
I sometimes do that routine too; I forgot to mention that. It all just depends on how dirty the car really is.

Re: Meguiars Quick Detail Spray question
Considering the wheels are painted too, it wouldn't hurt, but I find it unnecessary.
