help! - tint problem!

Re: help! - tint problem!
Well, it really comes down to the size of these dust spots you are talking about. From my experience, no window tint installer work in a dust free environment, which means there will be dust. It all comes down to the amount and size of the dust on your glass. Personally, I would mind if I am a customer who had spotty tint along w/ lint on the film.
However, there are ways to control or minimize dust being trapped under the tint. If there is lint caught in between, then that's another issue that brings to mind of sloppy work. The glass should be thoroughly cleaned before tint app.

Re: help! - tint problem!
I recently had my windows done at a certified 3M shop.
Like all G's, the rear window has small bumps (for lack of a better term) painted along the top of the window that seem to be designed to cut down on glare (OEM). After getting my windows done, there is a 4" X 6" section where the tint has yet to settle where the tint is installed over the bumps.
As you can tell I am struggling to explain this correctly, sorry about that - but I think most of you likely understand what I am trying to say.
Anyway, has anyone else experienced this? The installer says that it is hit or miss, that sometimes the tint will settle properly while other times it will not. He said the only thing he can do is cut out the tint and apply a black strip in its place (over the bumps) and said that this “strip” will settle just fine.
Please advise...should I press the issue?

Since it's not sitting already, you should have a vinyl piece cover up the dot matrix.

Re: help! - tint problem!
Scottobean, I bought my new G from Costa Mesa Infiniti - not far from you... they contract with Rick Schrader @ Sundial Window Tinting - he has done their showroom cars, Sema show cars, etc... Did all four doors plus rear window for me $225 total and it's PERFECT!!! I couldn't be happier! His office number is: 714-593-1101, cell: 714-812-8451 - he is mobile, so he will probably come to you - or take your car to CM. I'm positive you will be happy with his work. I just created a profile tonight - will try to add pics of my tint soon. Good luck
