That black part that you can see isn't a build up on top of the silver paint... it's actually the surface of the rim UNDER the paint. Those are the areas where the "cleaner" disolved the paint the worst.

Since I have no choice now other than to get my rims refinished, I figured I might as well get started sanding them down and getting them prepped for paint. About 20 minutes into it, I started thinking "Why am I on my knees scrubbing away at these rims with sandpaper when I just learned a much easier way to get the paint off?" I took what was left over of this wheel "cleaner" and completely soaked the rim. Had a sandwich, took a ****, came back out to the rim... and WOW, the paint practically wipes off with the sandpaper now!
So I guess I should say "Thank You Turtle Wax for making such a high quality PAINT REMOVER! You guys are the best and I'm recommending all of your products to all of my friends!"
If any of you guys ever need a good PAINT REMOVER, try Turtle Wax ICE wheel and tire cleaner! It cleans so well that everything just seems to rinse right off... INCLUDING THE FAWKING PAINT!!!

These products should be used maybe once in your cars lifetime, and that one time is only if you buy it used and the previous owner let brake dust cake on. Even then, it should be spray wait 10 seconds, rinse thoroughly, if it needs more another 10 seconds. After that the wheels should be maintained with soap and water. Protected by wax.
Good luck with the powder coating, they will look 10x better!

should have not send it down.
Could have raised the big stink about it and prolly got refund from Turtle-Wax.
That is if you used the proper product (for painted finish) and used it right.
