Dropping off my rims tomorrow for powdercoating. I'm thinking like a dark gunmetal gray. Any suggestions?

Before you go bashing away a product, we'll need to know more specifics. Most importantly, how long does the product label say to leave it on and how long did you actually leave it on for? Are there any warning as far as leaving the product on too long? I can't imagine anyone in their right mind watch the finish on their Rays get eaten away by a $5 bottle of wheel cleaner and then turn around and pay money out of their own pocket after they followed the product's directions to the 't'. I would've videotaped myself using the product on an undamaged portion with a stop watch and sent them the results of their highly corrosive 'cleaner'. I'd make them refinish my wheels at the very least or sought out legal advice after posting the video all over the interwebs.

These products should be used maybe once in your cars lifetime, and that one time is only if you buy it used and the previous owner let brake dust cake on. Even then, it should be spray wait 10 seconds, rinse thoroughly, if it needs more another 10 seconds. After that the wheels should be maintained with soap and water. Protected by wax.

Good luck with the powder coating, they will look 10x better!

I've never had any issues with any of the turtle wax ICE products, including the wheel and tire cleaner. Are you sure you used it right?

I use Simple Green diluted to 5%. So long as you're cleaning it weekly, you shouldn't need any harsh cleaners at all.

Boy, that sure is odd he hasn't replied to any of my questions. I think he left it soaking on his wheels while he went to make a sammich and catch the 2nd quarter of the game on tv, then couldn't understand why his wheels were pitted.

Actually, no. I've just been incredibly busy and haven't been paying attention to the forum much. You're right, I may have left them on for a little bit more than 30 seconds... they may have "soaked" for 50-60 seconds. (I wasn't holding a stopwatch. Let's be realistic. I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that most people aren't holding a stopwatch when using this product waiting for the precise moment 30 seconds hits so they can scramble to get the product rinsed off as fast as they can.) Really though, it's hard for me to believe that such a small increment of time over what is recommended should cause that kind of damage. Assuming I did leave it on for 60 seconds, should I have only expected half of the damage at 30 seconds?

As for seeking any kind of compensation from the company, it does clearly state on the bottle that if I'm not completely satisfied with the product I can return the unused portion with the sales receipt for a FULL refund of the purchase price. (As if I'm supposed to be satisfied with the $5 refund check that I'll get in the mail 6 months later? LOL). I'm not really sure it would be worth it to pursue any kind of lawsuit or hire a lawyer in order to be compensated for anything nor do I have the time. I'd lose much more investing the kind of time and effort it takes to get into that kind of thing.

It's kind of funny how products always state "test product for compatibility on a small area first" like ruining just a small area is acceptable as opposed to the whole thing?
