Got the G polished this weekend...

A buddy of mind came down from Chi-town to visit and brought his polishing equipment with him to detail my car with. Started out with a quick wash with Meguiar's Gold Class, dried it off and went to town on the body with his Porter Cable for around 6 hours. We finished up the process by applying some S100 wax and lightly hand-buffing with microfiber towels.

I don't have any before pics to post up right now, but I think we all know what bad swirling looks like. Since we were already doing an extensive detail that will probably get done maybe once annually, we went ahead and debadged the "G35" and "INFINITI" lettering. So glad I did, because the car is much cleaner now! Check out the final results (I've only taken closeup detail shots for now in direct sun just to show how worthwhile polishing is):

You can see where we debadged in this one

Overall, we got probably 95% or so of the swirls/scratches out since some were too deep to get out or there was pitting in the clear from neglect from the first owner. I must say though, twilight blue pearl has never looked so good to me before. There is so much more deepness to it now that before the polish, and the blue flake shines through much better!

Looks great! I always get scared when I see "Polished my G" because most people take it to a moron detailer who leaves holograms or something in the paint, but that looks awesome, direct sun shots are exactly what you want.

Full car shots now

Looking real sharp, you did a great job polishing. Which polishes did you use with the PC? Thanks for sharing, keep up the great work.

Well, first off, the credit goes to my friend on the polishing. He's been doing it on the side for some time now and decided to show me how. This time around was for me to learn I did the final stage carnauba waxing however. As far as the polish used, he used Menzerna super intensive polish, that's it.

Thanks guys for the positive feedback, and since you've requested full shots, I will shoot some quick ones in the back parking lot at work today around noon to get some good sunlight—I didn't have much light to work with yesterday evening to do the car justice. Also, I've been driving the car the last 2 days so there's some road dirt/dust on the car now (just ignore that, lol). I will post up later this evening

As luck would have it, it was a very cloudy day today (supposed to be sunny all week) and I wasn't able to get any good full body shots of the car on my lunch break. I did manage to snap one while the sun was peeping in for a second, so I can at least post a teaser shot because I said I would post up tonight...

next time (as you develop your skills) finish off with a final polish like FPII or 85rd and you will achieve even MORE depth and gloss from the finish!!!

Car looks pretty good though!

x2. Maybe ask if you can borrow his PC, PO85RD is super easy to use. It will definitely enhance your finish a lot. While there's no holograms, your finish will benefit a lot from PO85RD. Check out this TB: http://www.autopia.org/forum/pro-det...lots-pics.html

And x2 on getting those side bumper moldings off haha.
