Re: TINT PROBLEMS

I installed a piece of black vinyl that I got from a local sign shop (1' x 4' = $25). My so-called "proffesional" window tiniter swore up and down he could get the tint to stick. After a day the tint began to lift. I removed the tint about a half inch from the bottom of the matrix. Cleaned off the residual adhesive. I then took a couple of piece of paper and traced the inside of the window and then transferred it to the piece of vinyl. The entire process took about an hour. Use a press card to avoid air bubbles (work from the center out). It also helps to have a extra pair of hands. This first shot is from the outside. Please excuse the dirt (Thanks Charley!)

A shot from inside. When looking in the rear view, it is barely noticable. Hope this helps.

GG1RL,
I'm here in California, however the Tint guy I used told me today that he has this special "Black Vinyl" he uses on Dot Matrix.

Re: TINT PROBLEMS

how do u think it would look if i matched a vinyl strip with the color of the car (brilliant silver) on the outside??? Ive got 20% tint on the back window, if i went with the black strip on the inside would u be able to tell from the outside??
Thanks for the help!

Re: TINT PROBLEMS

I was originally going to go that route and put the vinyl on the outside. It then dawned on me, I live in SoFla which is approx a foot away from the sun and relized that after a couple of months in the sun, it would fade and look like *****. The sign shop I use, has dosens of colors of vinyl. I would check out your local sign shops and see if they can give you sample to match the car. IMO I would go with black on the inside. The benefits of a black car, all blacks match it.

Re: TINT PROBLEMS

Another shot from the front. If you can't tell, I have 5% all around with 30% on the front.
