Removing dealer branding

I just purchased my G35s a few weeks back and was wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to remove the dealer decal/sticker that the dealer put on the trunk of my G? Can I just peal it off? or do I need to do something first?

Thanks

Re: Removing dealer branding

God I hate it when they do that. I made it very clear to my dealer that if they put their badge on my car that I was not accepting delivery. They didn't give me a discount for advertising for them...

Back to your question, as long as it isn't drilled the heat gun/dental floss debadging technique probably will work pretty well.

Re: Removing dealer branding

Thank god the dealers in my area (nor cal) don't put their badges on cars. I hate that and I would definitely not accept a car like that. Actually, if I could get a few hundred off by taking it I would, and then I'd remove it.

Re: Removing dealer branding

The dealer I purchased my G from, just puts a license plate frame on the cars they sell, nothing else, easily removable, they own several dealerships here (Honda, Subaru, Saab) and it's the same with all of them!

Re: Removing dealer branding

They went all out on my car. I have the decal, and a front and back license plate frame, which will be removed when I pick up my plates.

I'll give the heat gun dental floss idea a try.

Thanks

Re: Removing dealer branding

usually the emblems come off very easily if you just got the car, mine came right off when i attempted a month after i got it. I was able to convince my dealer to give me two chrome license plate frames with simply "g35" on them.
after you remove the emblems, use either wd40 or something like goo-gone to remove the residue. If theres any scratches from the removal then something like scratch-x or gs27 scratch remover should work

Re: Removing dealer branding

Has anyone gotten a ticket for not having a front license plate? In CA, it is a law to have one, but I don't want to ruin the looks of my G until a cop forces me to put one on.

Re: Removing dealer branding

It's true you must have a front license plate in CA. I have driven two different vehicles for over 10 years without being pulled over for it. BUT, it gives the cops a great excuse to pull you over.

Re: Removing dealer branding

I removed the dealership decal with WD-40. Just put some WD-40 on a paper towel and apply it over the decals. It then becomes very easy to peel off. After you get the decals off, clean the area with a little more WD-40 then wash it off with car wash solution. Pretty simple.

Re: Removing dealer branding

Actually it was pretty easy. My tool of choice, my fingernail.

I peeled up a corner and the whole decal practically fell off.

Cleaned up with some bugremover on a towel.

Re: Removing dealer branding

I can't believe Infiniti allows dealers to do this. Do you see shiz like that on BMWs, Acuras? I just had the cheap plastic plates with the dealers name on which I quickly replaced. You pay good money for these cars you shouldn't accept an advertisement on wheels IMO.
