Whats The Best Brake Dust/Stain Remover For Rims?

hello everyone

i just purchased a used set of 350z Gunmetal Nismo rims
and the front 2 rims have brake dust that wont come off!
The 2 rears are fine. Im looking for a brake dust remover that wont
damage the clearcoat or finish of my rims. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm a noob but from what I have seen in this section most ppl shy away from aggressive wheel cleaners and instead use regular maintenance with soap and water. From the looks of it that wont be good enough for your situation, but you may need something aggressive, but no so aggressive it damages the clear. I'd suggest seeing what George from Detailed Image suggests. You may want to email him directly.

Your first steps are going to be to remove the brake dust, which I'd suggest by using a mild clay bar and lube. Something like this clay combo would be ideal. Then once the surface is properly prepped, use a metal polish to remove stubborn brake dust or any embedded contamination. I'd suggest Optimum Metal Polish applied with a foam applicator pad.

After you clean the wheels up, you're best bet would be to add some protection with Poorboy's World Wheel Sealant, then maintain with regular soap and water. You want to avoid using harsh chemicals if possible and this is the best way to do that.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.
