Yes it is. You need to use some sort of polish to remove the clear coat etching. Bird poo is like acid. Just buy some Scratch X 2.0 at any store that sells automotive stuff, Target, walmart, autozone, advance auto..ect
Clay bars are for embedded contaminants. They arent going to remove bird dropping etchings.
i have never had this issue with bird dookey when ever a seagul craps on my car i just take a wet towel and leave it on the dookey for 20 mins and it comes off with a blast from the water hose no scratches or anything done this will all my cars
I too have etch marks in my clear coat from every bird dookey that has hit my car. I suspect etching could be avoided if you removed it immediately. It is not a big deal but since I know where the spots are, if you look at them at the right angle, you can see where poop landed.
I have never used scratch x. Is this a mild rubbing compound? I have some NuFinish Scratch Doctor, I wonder if that would work. Scratch Doctor helps to reduce visibility of fine clear coat scratches. It doesn't perform miracles though.
PS I noticed waxing car helps to protect paint from bird poop, but not 100%. I use NuFinish, mainly because I have for years so I am familiar with it, it leaves a nice shine and it lasts a long time. There may be other products out there that do a better job of protecting paint from poop.
