Soap scum
Soap scum
Hey guys i'm new here and I got a question.
My car windshield is completely covered in what seems to be soap scum? I've tried everything to get rid of it. I've used rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover and a lot of different products. Does anyone have any tips for me?

Got any pictures or a description of what it looks like?
It sounds to me like you're describing hard water etching, which a clay bar MAY remove based on how deep it is. If not, a compound and elbow grease will remove it(glass is A LOT harder than paint.)

I can't get any pictures right now because it is almost midnight.
Clay bar? How would it work on the windshield interior? When I scrubbed it with the nail polish remover a small bit of it washed off, but now it doesn't anymore. Maybe I should give the Clay bar a try. I'll post pictures tomorrow and how much would a clay bar generally cost?

What I do when I detail cars that have heavy water spots or soap spots on the windows is use either a razor with Invisible Glass cleaner or a like a Brillo pad. I cover the glass completely with the invisible glass cleaner and scrub it with either the pad or scrap it with the razor. It always works and leaves the glass brand new.
REMEMBER NOT TO DO IT WITH THE GLASS DRY (This WILL scratch the glass, if done while glass is DRY) Cover the glass in glass cleaner First.

What exactly is a Brillo pad? I actually bought Invisible Glass today just to test it, but I will give your advice a try tomorrow. Will Invisible Glass damage the top of my dash?
Invisible glass won't hurt the dash, I have used it for years, just make sure you wipe the dash after you are done cleaning the glass. Afterward just wipe with towel. A brillo pad is basically a ball of steel wool.Just spray the glass with the glass cleaner and use the steel wool to scrub the glass.

I'll be sure to post on how it goes tomorrow!
