Debadging & Results

This thread almost belongs here, after attending our Huntington Beach meet this past weekend I decided to totally debadge my trunklid. The only thing left was the Mt Fuji emblem but that had been on since day one. I carefully worked to get it off with fishing line/googone and it took almost 45 minutes before the glue was totally gone. So I'm left with scratches and a shadow plus it was installed when the paint wasn't totally dried. I used everything in the cubbard along with my orbital buffer and you could still see a faint outline. I considered putting the emblem back on but no, I'll try one more way to make it perfect. Drove up to the local carwash and paid a guy to hit it with his highspeed buffer/cleaner. Success, the $20 I gave him to get rid of the scratches was successful. I'm about to leave and this customer walks up saying, "Beautiful car is it a Lexus?" That's exactly why I left the Mt. Fuji on all these years....Oh well.

Haha, funny story. I get that all the time Gary, the most common one I get mistaken for is an Acura...LOL. Glad you were able to successfully get rid of the Mt. Fuji, I bet it looks very nice.

Thanks Marcus, it definately looks much cleaner without anything and after two coats of Zymol concourse wax I wonder why I waited soooooo long to totally debadge.... Hmm, what's next?

i have been called an acura too.. atleast they were staying on the luxury part. i will go amuck if someone calls my car a honda.

so gary ur saying that a high speed buffer can fix the shadowing correct? because i am having an awful time trying to get rid of the little scratches and shadows on my debadged trunk.

Man, Gary knowing you I am shocked you went to just some random local carwash place to get it buffed.

Well good it got fixed. I had no problems with the debadging but when I removed my Pin strips they left a mark, even with polishing. I prob need to wet sand or a more powerful tool

Didn't you notice I live in California in the Santa Clarita valley it's been close to 90 degrees since last weekend, why would I want to make it hotter? The main issue is that it's been on my trunklid for over 5 years and I always take my time working on SLICK.
