Horrible Waterspots..

Hey guys. I have a 2005 OB G35 coupe and it seems that no matter what I do I keep getting water spots all over the car. I waxed it about two weeks ago, and the second it rained it had horrible water spots. So I wash it and dry it.. that night the dew collects on the paint. Next morning it dries and low and behold... WATER SPOTS again! I cant keep it looking nice and Im getting a little frustrated.

Now, I see black cars all the time and I know that I take better care of my paint than the majority of NON-enthusiasts, yet theres not a water spot to be seen. Idk what Im doing wrong to my poor paint.

Can someone please help me figure out what Im doing wrong!?

That won't do anything. If it's actually water spots, the spots will just be on top of the sealant, instead of on top of the wax.

OP - some pictures might help. Do you have some trees above your car? Maybe they are dripping some nasty chemical brew on your car when the dew hits them.

Having a black car and parking it outside... good luck!

Actually, the OP MIGHT have etching And then a sealant would sure protect against future etching better than a wax, but would have to buff out the current etching first.

I'll snap some pics this afternoon and show you what I mean. I can go out there with a microfiber cloth and just rub a little and the spots go away. The second that water condenses again, they come right back. I'll get pics..

yea sounds like you have water etching, going to need to use a polish to get rid of those.

Just looks like dirt spots to me.

Especially if wiping the car down with a quick detailer and a MF towel cleans it up.

Basically, your car is getting wet during the night, and dust is collecting in the water, and then drying. With a silver car, it would be much less noticeable.

Yep when dirty water, or hard water dries up, it will look like that. Wax prevents it from being etched into the clearcoat. What Wax are you using?

I've never heard anything bad about NXT tech wax.

I think the problem is black car, and letting it get wet. The water spots will collect the dust in the air, and dry on your car. Then you get the minerals there as well that were in the water.

If you're in GA, you can come by my place, we'll buff your car and put some Klasse AIO on it, but I think you'll have the same spot from leaving the car parked outside and collecting moisture.

Waterspots aren't that bad. If you can wipe it off with a detail spray then it's no biggie.

BUT, if you have etching, it's a bltch to remove. I don't have any tools so it took me an hour to remove the water etching on my hood.

I should have went to a grocery store to pick up a bottle of distilled vinegar and washed my car with a mixture of water/vinegar first.
