Touch up or repaint?

I own a LR g35 which has several rock chips all over the hood, bumper, and fenders. I took it to two local body shops to see if they could do touch up work and both replied by saying the damage was too extensive to touch up and would need to repaint the above areas.

I do not have a means to take HD pics for you guys but will attempt to take decent phone pics tomorrow. I don't believe the chips are THAT bad.. they're somewhat spread out and range in different sizes; mainly very tiny.

To what degree will touch up paint simply will not cut it? I'm not talking about massive paint peel and stuff, but just severe road rash.. is repainting the only option?

I was quoted a price of $650 to repaint the entire hood, bumper, and fenders. Is this a reasonable price?

I think $650 is a excellent price as long as they are going to use quality paint made by well known maker and remove bumper before painting. They also have to peel old paint off on bumper.

I was just wondering what would be a regular quote for a full paint job 1 solid color im thinking matte black with a vinyl wrap, i know im not the first g35 or the last but i just think the color is sick, i called shops around but they always just ring me around with 5-10k all depends on car and labor. i want a more accurate pricing. thanks

Great price for painting the parts you mentioned. At some point you can't touch up and need to respray the whole area.

So I finally got around to taking some pictures. I would really prefer not to drop $650; even if it is a good deal. Based off these pics, do you guys think this is something touch up paint can fix?

I've circled the chips in green. Some are very small where as others are medium sized.

Apparently driving too close to the car in front of you makes you more prone to paint chips.. maybe these chips are my fault.. (see my old car below)

Get in touch with jason and see if he can help, www.mobileinq.com/Home_Page.php

I would definitely avoid repainting.

650 for a repaint on all those parts is a one heck of a deal. Touch up paint is going to look horrible especially on the hood and fender where it's on top and very noticeable, not to mention you probably got at least 100 spots. Generally I would reserve touch up paint for places closer to the ground like front bumper scrapes, where the light won't hit it.
