Meguires nxt wax question

I think I got a bad or old batch of nxt liquid wax, because even after shaking the damn thing forever it comes out as clear liquid with specks of white. I tested it on my hood anyway thinking it may supposed to be like that and the wax just rolled off of the applicator like water. It didnt work at all. Just water spots everywhere. Im guessing that the petroleum distolates separated, but it is supposed to be synthetic... Please help.
Thanks
Eric

yeah, looks like it's probably old. You should either call meguiar's or take it back. i bought a bottle last week and it should come out white, not watery. I wouldn't let that touch your car, take it back!

It's old or bad; shouldn't be like that...take it back for a new one. I hope you don't have a black car, b/c the NXT won't do a good job on black; it doesn't get rid of swirl marks or water spots. It's fine for other colors (I still use it for our '03 Copper FX35), but it won't last long...you'll have to apply another coat in about 2-3 months.

Re: Meguires nxt wax question

No wax will get rid of water spots or swirl marks. Waxes will fill them in and cover it up so it looks like its not there. It just so happens that they show alot easier on black.

Meguiars Customer service is 2nd to none. Call TOLL FREE 1.800.347.5700 and tell them your problem. Im not sure if they'll replace it or if you will have to go to whereever you bought it, but you can try the number above.

Thanks for the replies. I called the hotline yesterday but it was sunday and nobody was there. I took it back tonight after work and got a refund. I knew something was wrong when it wouldnt even stay on the applicator.

Re: Meguires nxt wax question

patrickwong - the Meguiar's NXT "smells good" ...ha ha ;-) Who cares? Do you drive your car or just sniff it all day long? ;-) Not trying to rag on you, but I don't choose my car wax based on its fragrance...it's not hair shampoo ;-)

Try Klasse AIO as a base coat and top it off with a couple coats of the Pinancle Souveran (Liquid or Paste) Carnuba wax (after waiting 12 hours to apply the carnuba wax)...then, you'll see why the Meguiar's NXT just doesn't cut it on a black car!!! ;-) The Klasse AIO synthetic/Pinancle Souveran carnuba wax combo is amazing...very deep, brillant mirror shine which lasts several months (although I really don't need to, I admit I frequently add another coat of the carnuba every couple months, but I can't help it..he he ;-) I found this combo to be way better than the Meguiar's NXT (but both the Klasse AIO and Pinnacle Souveran are $25 each compared to the $10 bottle of NXT).

jimcambell - I understand that the Klasse AIO nor anything else will actually "remove" the swirl marks or water spots, but this synthetc wax (which is supposed to remove old waxes) really does do a good job with these problems when I found nothing else that would even come close.

I tried several waxes before using the Klasse AIO and although several waxes said they would "remove swirl marks" on their labels (including Meguiar's NXT), nothing would "hide" the swirl marks and get rid of the hard water spots I had (from not drying the car fast enough in the blistering S. Florida sun)...until I used the Klasse AIO. It worked when nothing else did. Then, I of course topped it off with a couple coats of the Pinnacle Liquid Souveran carnuba wax, and WOW! Big difference.

Yes...the swirl marks have come back after a few months, but I don't see any more hard water spots (thanks to quickly drying my entire car in 4 minutes using the Big Blue II towel). My next step it to claybar the whole car in January (haven't done this yet to my car but I hear it's great to do) and start over again with the Klasse AIO synthetic and the Pinnacle Souveran carnuba wax combo.

compares all the major brands, pros/cons, as well as 3rd party opinions. its a couple of years old but not much has changed really.
