Buffer gone bad HELP pictures inside
once again what kind of buffer? Rotorary? or a DA?
That looks like a rotary buffer with a pad that is either dirty, has as exposed nut to hold it to the plate, or has a plastic backer that cut through the pad and allowed it to hit the paint.
That looks all kinds of awful.
My advice?
- Create Facebook account
- Use it to find new friends
Holy crap, was there a rock or something on the pad? How hard was he pressing and how fast was the buffer speed? Your friend has absolutely no idea what in the world he was doing...
Don't let your friends experiment on your car anymore. I'm surprised to hear you work for a body shop? Anyhow, you can tell if it broke through the clear or not by running your nail over it lightly. If it digs in a little, depending on how much, wet sanding may work in some areas, not all. I don't think your buddy knows how to buff, based on the pattern of marks left on your car. Good luck everything, hopefully you get it painted correctly.
for anyone that is curious, i believe it was waxing compound that was hardened because when he wax the car it was not in shaded area. the heat caused the waxing compound to harden. at least that was what happened to me. anyways, i used some h2o2 from walmart and it came out. you have to clean the marks one by one though. if this happened to anyone in the future, try using h2o2 first. good luck
wow thats the worst detailing disaster iv ever seen . Was the pad prepped with rocks and dirt . Was this a rotary ? Wax should always be applied and wiped off by hand . Even pros do it that way . The rotary should only be used for compound and polish with the appropriate pads . I like using DD uber pads . question why would he not stop before doing the whole thing . There must have been a lot of jumping and bad sounds . One reason why pads should always be kept in new condition in a ziplock and if dropped toss them out .That doesnt look like it was from dried up polish in the sun or it would be full circle marks like holograms . It had to be somthing on one location of the pad .
HA! man, weird how the same thing happened to me. hair went up just looking at those pics!
