another cg review with pics

so I applied cg pro about two weeks back...

at first I wasn't too happy with the results... basically, I didn't care enough about my old beater integra to spend the time buffing out swirl marks and small scratches, so after a full application of CG Pro, the swirls were fairly magnified and the shine really wasn't all that impressive immediately.

but since then, I've forgotten about the integra and have had it driven about 400 miles and parked outside through a thunderstorm... but as I was walking to my car today, I couldn't help but notice how much shinier it had gotten... It looks like I almost washed it and all this after some pretty good exposure to the elements...

the bottom line is I'm now a very satisfied CG customer and next time will be sure to do some better prep work to make sure that the only thing magnified is the shine...

Okay, you're making me feel better...

I bought CG and applied it on Sunday. I have to say, I wasn't impressed - yeah, the car got shinier, but honestly, it didn't look much better than a freshly washed car. My car is a Brilliant Silver Coupe, and it's pretty new (900 miles) so I guess I am looking to be "wowed"... So far, not wowed..

However, after your results, I am willing to wait a bit and see what happens... To be honest, I was pretty skeptical spraying the stuff on - it has the consistency (and appearance) of Armor All. I thought to myself, "How can this stuff produce a protective layer? It doesn't have any viscosity/thickness to it"...

But, I guess we shall see..

One caveat: it has been overcast/rainy since I put the CG on, so I haven't had the car in bright sunlight yet. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, so that will be a nice test...

Does CG give the car a feeling of glass ? I only use Carnuba on mine, as I've found this gives me the smooth feeling of glass when I slide my hand on my car. I have over 15 coats of carnuba on my car and continue to wax it as much as I can. But the carnuba waxing does take me almost two hours to put on and buff off.

no... the cg does not give your car that slippery feeling... so you won't see any flies and other insects walking on your hood like their vdc is off.

from my observations it just provides a very clean, freshly washed deep shine, removes surface blemishes, but not micro swirls and scratches... a little bit of paint prep work with orbital buffer will fix this no doubt. I have yet to apply any CG to my G35 though as I'm going to try an application of CG quick with some paint prep on my integra first to see how that all works out.

Plus you can always apply several coats of your favorite wax on top and CG will still protect underneath.

To me it sounds like CG is a stripper, no not in dancer, but a stripper to remove oxidation, and wax build up. If that be the case, then I think I'd rather stay with a thick coat of wax. Have any of you heard of "Ming" my uncle had his Z done and he says they actually had to heat up the product to apply it into the paint.

If you want a glass-like finish and high-gloss, easy to use product, look at Blackfire. It was pretty easy to apply for a two-step product. I really like the car wash too, lots of lubrication to slide the dirt off. The Gloss Spray really puts the pop on.
