Noobie in need of help

So I just got my OB G a coupe days ago and it's my first car and I want to make sure I take care of it. So I come to you with a couple questions about washing/detailing

1. What exactly is detailing, what do you need, and what does it do? I've seen things like detail spray and whatnot, and I have no idea what it really does.

2. I've also heard a lot about Optimum No Rinse. Is this a good alternative to a hand car wash? do you usually yield the same results or are there benefits to an old fashioned hand wash?

3. Waxing. I know it protects your paint, but how do you go about waxing your car?
