Leather jacket staining car?

Hello again everyone,

My black leather jacket is staining my tan arm rest.. whenever I use Maguire leather wipes it comes off but I don't want to waste the wipes since I bought them to just let my leather breath. My jeans are also staining my tan seat too What's the best way to clean this stuff??

Thanks!

try a very slightly damp cloth, or a very gentle cleanser.......or dont wear a leather jacket in a car that solves all problems

i would recommend using a leather protection liquid. Like armor all or mothers of some sort. That should eliminate the problem and it can be picked up at autozone..

My guess would be the dye is coming out of the clothes because they're low quality?

I would be very wary of these stains, as they can quickly become permanent if you're not careful. What's happening with the jeans is that you are transferring the dye onto the seat. Jeans fade over time, you see this happen and usually the extra dye is removed in the washing machine, but if they're not washed for a while the dye will be removed by friction against the seat and actually replace the lighter colored dye in the leather if it sits there for more than 3-5 days(avg.) Same thing with the jacket, although it may not be as dangerous. Or it might be more dangerous, idk, not really a common problem as almost no one wears leather jackets anymore.

You'll need leather cleaner. Maybe even premium grade Leather Masters cleaner. For the jean stains, it's probably already too late. For the jacket, stop wearing it in the car. Leather Masters also has a Leather Protection Cream which is a good idea to look into.

Phil has all of this at Detailersdomain.com

Interesting replies guys, thanks a lot for your time and detail.

My clothes are not low quality though (especially my leather jacket which I think is pretty cool still regardless of trends) so I will try these cleaners you recommend. Thanks alot.
