3M vs VentureTape vs Other...

I dont know if I am beating a dead horse here, so please bare with me.

I am getting my G in a few weeks and of course, only want the best for it. I want it to retain its nice new paint "look" as long as possible.

How have the experiences gone with getting film on the paint?

Is it really worth it??

What kind of cost am I looking at to get this done?

thanks

It's definitely worth it. I have the Venture film on for a while and it is still in perfect condition. On your title "3M vs VentureTape vs X-Pel", X-pel is a software and not the film itself. I'd say that if you want to save your paint from getting those nasty chips, definitely go for it.

I did a lot of initial research. They all have their own strengths and weaknesses. If you are going to have it installed your best bet is to trust what the installer who you pick recommends and stands by. If you have an issue of some sort at some point in the future they are the ones who are most in the position to help you out. Sounds like a non answer huh... My car came with 3M already installed by the dealer. They do a ton of them and will stand by their work, so it was good as gold for me. I was adventurous and did my wifes car myself with 3M also. I wanted one with a hard clear coat, less critical to keep it waxed and sealed. If the non-clear coated are not kept waxed and protected they tend to absorb road grime and urethane is porous by its nature.... We took it on a skiing vacation and it held up great! Got home and gave it a bath and wax job and it looks good as new! Find an installer who fits your needs and go with their recommendations if you want the no fuss approach. In the end, even if it does look bad (generalization) it will still be protecting. So i a few years when you sell it you get a premium, even if you remove it! So in a few years the thing winds up being next to free or free!

There are a few manufacturers on the market and what's really important is the installer. All films will protect your paint surface from rock chips, but to have it looking good, installation is the key.

I also went with the dealer install (3M) and am happy with it. I washed my car this weekend and noticed a few marks in the film on the lower front bumper that probably would be chips if not for the protective layer.
