Headlight restoration FAIL!
Headlight restoration FAIL!
Looks like the previous owner on my G35 tired to restore the headlights and messed up pretty bad. As far as how clean it looks its about a 7 out of 10 but the main problem is.. Theres scratches all over the headlights, both sides (looks like he dry sanded the **** out of it)! I have an idea of what to do to get this fixed from researching on this forum but i want to be exactly sure on what I'm doing since I'm not an expert at restoring headlights. Any advice? Steps i should take?
Yeah i was definitely going to go with a compound. I wasn't sure if i needed to sand it down but i guess I'm going to. Any suggestions on a compound?
you can pick up something simple as Plastix at Walmart or any auto parts store and it should work just fine if it's sanded properly.
Just remember to double up you sanding time every time you go up the grade of sand paper.

That looks crisp.
I have another fail, may be you guys can help?
I used the 1500/2000 grit sandpaper on the headlights but forgot to tape the edge of the lights and now I have this dull ring around them. Any idea how I can get rid of it? Its on the metal portions surrounding the headlight. Almost looks like I got rid of the glossy layer of my paint.

except the sealant wax isnt going to last/protect very long. The lights will still need to be cleaned regularly. You need something that will replenish the UV protection into plastic like the headlight product from SEM
