uniform or un-uniform itnt?
uniform or un-uniform itnt?
Guys i want your opinion
Should I get 35% all around,
or 35% front windows, and 20% all other windows?
The tint guy told me to do the latter...
however, i think the car looks better with the tint all the same...

Re: uniform or un-uniform itnt?
like you, i don't like 2 different tints either. i think it's ugly. to think that you can try and trick to cops into believing the fronts aren't tinted is just plain stupid. it's blantantly obvious either way, that they are tinted.
i ended up with 32% all around. i'd suggest you do a front strip as well, just don't do it too low. works way better than that blue crap at the top.

Re: uniform or un-uniform itnt?
ARGH!
i had my tint done
1) they scratched my car on both sides... apparently he was dragging some electrical wires of some sort over the car... ( dont' understand what he was trying to explain when i asked him, he's korean and doesn't speak english well)
2) the tint! there's fine white scratches on the tint on every window..... i dont know, i'm not sure
but i'm thinking, HE SUCKS AT TINTING!
so now i have to go back to morrow to get it buffed out...... (the scratches) i so do not want to pay for the tint since it sucks.......
i can't get him to redo it, since i have no time as i will be heading out of town for university for 4 months,
besides, i dont want him to redo it, he sucks anyways!
what should i do?????

Re: uniform or un-uniform itnt?
bummer, man.
if you are going to let him buff out the scratches, i'd suggest you make sure he doesn't screw that up either. worry about the tint later, i think the paint is more important.
i've learned from past experience, you always get what you don't pay for...

Re: uniform or un-uniform itnt?
The type of tint the law allows also depends on where you live. I just got mine done, and was tempted to do 35% all around but was dissuaded from doing so. I was advised that 50% is all that is accepted here in Montreal for the front passenger windows. I don't really think they check, but really didn't want to test the law and have to get the windows redone. To make a long story short I got 21% in the back window, 35% in the back passengers windows, and 50% in the front side windows. It still looks good although not as good as 35% all around.

Tint can be removed. However, removing tint from the rear window runs the risk of damaging the defroster/antenna.

Re: uniform or un-uniform itnt?
Very prominent if they use a scraper to scrape off the rear tint. Less so if they're careful and soak the stuff off. My last car, an 92 Accord, had faded purple tint with bubbles forming all over it when I bought it. The tint place said they'd soak it off and be careful, but there was no guarantee the defroster would still work. When they were done, the tint looked great, but only the top 2/3rds of my rear window would defrost. Luckily, it was plenty to see out of.

Re: uniform or un-uniform itnt?
Apparently, the proper way to remove tint, especially on the backlight is to tape a big plastic sheet over the inside of the glass, after soaking the tint with ammonia, and letting the fumes penetrate overnight to soften the adhesive. After pealing away, residual adhesive is removed gently with a 3M type scrubbing pad run along the wire grid, never across them.
