Goo-Gone Ate My Paint..
hey guys, so im pretty pissed off.. last weekend I did some debadging that went great. I figured since it seemed to take a while last time why not try something thats ment for the purpose instead of using WD40 which I used last time in hopes it might be a litter faster.. I purchased some goo gone only for it to take off paint on my near perfect bumper.. im pretty pissed off about the situation is there anything I can do to paint it other then take it to a professional paint shop? Ive attached a picture of the mess.
I am the second owner, but looking at the car fax, it was never in an accident so I dont know if something wasnt reported or if it was repainted.. anything I can do? think ill have to go get it painted? if so how much would it be to patch up the back.. I see Maaco does spot painting but ive heard bad things about them
Do not take your car to maaco for the love of god. Take it to a reputable shop in your town. If your infinity/nissan dealership has a body shop take it to them. All reputable body shops use the same estimating software. To repair bumper and blend the rear bumper shouldn't be bad though. Probably three to four hundred dollar range( depending on how bad it actually is. Cant see how bad it is in pics)
u had emblems on ur bumper? ive used goo gone before on painted surfaces. ur supposed to wash it off with water and car soap after wards

Weird...I used goo gone when I debadged and it was fine, cant rememer if I washed it after or not
Honestly by the time they work out the issue to make it look good they could have sprayed the whole bumper over, would be easier to do that

Goo gone sucks for removing emblems, if I didnt switch back to using WD-40 it would of takin me hours. As soon as I saw the paint coming off I stopped using it. I think it was from the goo gone dripping down to the bumper and me not knowing it would do that, didnt remove it or clean it off until I was done with the entire job..
^usually when that happens I think ur supposed to leave it alone and the gas will evaporate itself off. not supposed to try and wipe it off especially immediately that'll fk up ur paint. or pour water on the area carefully to dilute the gas spill

I've debadged many cars and there is no reason goo gone would remove your paint. Trying to fix and bland in a couple spots, especially your color is near impossible so suck it up and pay the $300-$400 to get the real bumper repainted.
