Polished my G35 after seeing other Pics

I saw some other member's cars after they polished them and realized my car didn't look too hot. Ordered a Porter cable polisher, pads, Meguire's M105 and M205 and Merenza sealant. I washed the car, did a clay job, washed it and then started with an orange pad and M105. Followed by M205 on a white pad and then washed and wiped it down with IPA. Finished up with the Merenza sealant. This is the first time I've ever attempted this but my car needed it and I didn't want to dish out $500 to $600 to get it done. After all was said and done I should have spent the money. LOL. Let me know what you all think.

I liked the results even though I only achieved about 85% correction.

Almost a mirror finish.

Still need to finish the wheels and tires and final touch ups here and there. But overall, I like the way it looks compared to before.

I think it was about $250 from detailedimage.com. My son bought me everything for Christmas. It just took me awhile to get around to it.

This took me about 20 hours spread over two days. It really helps if you know what you're doing which I didn't. Plus there's a big learning curve when using M105, at least for me there was. Thanks.

Well I hope I won't have to do this again. If I do it maybe just using the Meg's M205 which is very easy to work with. I'm really going to try to keep swirls to a minimum by washing and drying it correctly. We'll see.

My G has some horrible swirling marks in the rear area, could you link me to the guides that helped you achieve your results. And also how did you know when enough was enough using the M105...? I could imagine that I would go too far haha. I really want to bring back that mirror finish that my car apparently used to have.

Thanks.

I went to autogeek.net and did a search on M105 and 205. Mike Phillips had an excellent article and that's what I followed. Like you I was scared, but I did one 1 foot square to determine what I needed to do and how long. It's really not that hard it's just a lot of work. I saw where there's a new product M101 which is suppose to be easier than 105. Let us know how you do!
