How do I fix my headlights?

Ok so I tried to spray my headlights with VHT nightshade to make them black. After I finished it was kind of uneven but you couldn't really tell so my friend offered to redo them. I figured why not because whats the worst that could happen. First he said we needed to take the paint off my headlights so he used a product called Klean-Strip Aircraft Paint Remover. Basically he sprayed it on and it reacted weird and just got really hard. So we tried to sand them and this is what they look like now.

They are still uneven and are smooth even though they dont look it. How do I fix it so that they are red again?

You are lucky you didn't do that to your headlights (like your thread title implies) As mentioned above, you live and learn! Just get new ones. I imagine over time the plastic is just going to get brittle and break as those chemicals keep doing their thing.
