I really need help!

Well, I have had my black G35c for 6 weeks and I do love it so. Anyway, I was handwashing it a few times a week. I really enjoyed doing it. Well, one day I decided to wax the car. For past cars, I've always had my dealer do waxing and detailing. So, I am a novice when coming to waxing. But I decided to wax the car myself. I went to the local auto store and they advised that the Turtle paste wax was pretty good. So, off I went. It was a a cool evening when I started to apply the wax. Apparantly, I put too thick a coat on the hood and of course it dried to a thick paste. The rest of the car I put a thinner coat after realizing my mistake. Well, after hard wiping the stuff came off the hood. It had a nice shine. Now about 2 weeks later, I notice that the shine on the hood is hazy and cloudy in streaks where I had put too much wax and had to buff it hard. I really think I put scratches on the paint. So, last night, I washed the car with Dawn to remove the wax. Well, the hazy streaks are still on the hood. I am sick about this. What would you reccommend I do to get the original shine and a process that is achieveable by a novice like me. I just don't want to make the same mistake. Thanks..

What kind of towels did you use to take off the wax? What did you use to apply it with? It could be that you scratched the surface of the paint if you used cheap towels to remove the wax. Use 100% cotton towel or microfiber towels.

You can try to use 3m's swirl mark remover if the paint is indeed scratched.

I really have not had much luck with Turtle wax for the reason you just experienced. It would be helpful to see what you are talking about,.. But I would just hit it with some Macquires cleaner/wax or equivalent and buff lightly to shine..Then, check the forum and buy availible good quality wax.
Your o.k., bro!..that clear coat is tough!

I used 100% towels and they were new. Anyway, thanks I take your advice. Should have left well enough alone.

I'm not a novice, nor expert, but I've realized that polishing, waxing and detailing is an art with a black car; I will never own another.

You can carry it to a professional detailer in your area, or if you're so inclined to do it yourself, educate yourself.

Check the detailing instructions here, and visit http://www.autopia.org/ and see what the professionals would do. I'm sure if you search those forums you will find other owners who've been in your position.

Leave it in the sun for about an hour. Then wipe / buff out the streaks with a slightly damp 100% cotton towel or microfiber towel. DO NOT bear down, just use very light preasure.

Sounds to me that you would be a great candidate for Crystalguard. It works, and so far is foolproof.

What is Crystalgard? Is it a polish? I have my first ever black car and have only had it for a month now, I am a stress case with the paint. It looks so good now and I want to keep it that way so I am always looking for tricks of the trade.
