especially for those owners with black coupes, it takes me just about 2.5 - 3 hrs to wash my entire car and dry it...
and prolly another 2 or 3 hrs to wax it...
i was wondering if im doing it the wrong way, whats the average amount it shoyuld take to do an entire car?
this is what i usually do, i rinse the entire car down for a good maybe 10-15 minutes to get any loose dirt off... then i use a microfiber wash mitt and start from the top of the car in one direction, and then the hood, trunk, doors, I try to save the bottom part for last, cause thats where mostof the dirt is, then i rinse off the soap in sections at a time, then last step is i use a brush and brush my tires sidewalls, and then clean my rims. Last step is to dry the car. I use the big blue towel... then wait maybe a few hours for it to completely dry, and then apply the wax on my car, and then let it sit there for maybe another hour, and then buff off...
I havent waxed my car in like 7 months, and it gets damn hot down in Texas during the summers...
will a layer of wax protect from bird droppings and other stuff like that? will it make my next car wash easier or no?
and prolly another 2 or 3 hrs to wax it...

Did mine for the first time this past friday. But I have a IP coupe.
9:30-1:30 (~4 hours)
that was 2 washes, plus drying, plus rims/tires. plus 2 coats of zaino. zfx+z2 on for ~ 30 mins then buff off x 2

Takes me about 3 hours to wash dry and wax. I begin waxing about 15 minutes after drying and my second coat goes an hour later if using wax, 24hours later if using a polymer (NXT). Great results!! another way to time it is by the bottle of wine. A nice red performing this chore works well!

I have a DG. I'm very meticulous when it comes to detailing and can still wash/dry in an hour. What are you doing that takes 3hrs?Originally Posted by Eurog35

The question is what are you NOT doing so that it only takes you an hour to wash/dry. Even rushing it, I'm not done in an hour with wash/dry.
On average, I spend about 2 hours just washing/drying and performing a cursy clean of the interior.

Wash/dry/windows/tire shine is 1hr if I vacuum and clean the interior it takes longer. I drive about 90-100 miles every day for work so my interior doesn't get very dirty however the outside needs to be washed twice a week depending on the weather.Originally Posted by lawboy05

Most of the auto detailing info I have read suggests cleaning wheels and tires before the rest of the auto (see Zaino or Properautocare). Hard water stains can result from washing your wheels /tires last as the water on the paint is likely to air-dry while you are working on the wheels. In addition, washing wheels last keeps the dirt and brake dust on your wheels and tires from splattering on your newly cleaned car.Originally Posted by Eurog35

Just my 2 cents.

I usually spend about 1-2 hrs to wash/dry the car including the wheels and tires but, I try to wash it @ least once or twice a week. My G is actually ivory peral and it seems like it's dirty again after two days of normal driving in dry weather. Anyways, maybe I should be waxing it more, sounds like you guys wax the G every car wash!!!!!
Then: 1-2hr to wash/dry, 30 min to re-wet and apply CG.
Now: 1hr to wash/dry, and a lot longer to do all the proper Zaino steps.
Future: going back to CG.

A few minutes if I run it through the gas station washer, longer if i splurge and get the 'hot wax'
