Orbital Buffer Recommendations?!

I'm in the market for an orbital buffer.

Me being a newb on this stuff, i need help on which brand, size, applicators, compounds, products to use.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Here is the best orbital I have come across. Dual head, random orbit, counter rotating heads!! Will not burn paint and WILL remove swirls when used with teh right pads and products. Unlike the Porter Cable which will slow up if you put enough pressure on it, this will maintain it's speed! AWESOME BUFFER. If you have any questions, contact Matt at Detailing Dynamics (516) number on the website and he will be more than happy to speak to you about it. They also carry a great line of their own detailing products!! Their Car wash soap is the best I have ever used!

I thought orbital buffers were bad for your paint job? Well, at least that's what the dealer said to me?

Not random orbital buffers. They turn at a lower speed and you do not use the lambs wool pads. The traditional buffers are more like polishers/grinders that use the lambs wool pad and spin in only one direction. They are used typical after a new paint job to do the "heavy cutting". The right place will follow up with a traditional random orbital to remove the swirls.

Another suggestion, though I've never tried this method myself.

Has anyone used an orbital buffer? If so, please comment on the dos and don'ts.

I have a PorterCable, and it is excellent! It will cost you little over $100 for the machine and about another $50 for pads.

It is really hard to damage your paint using one of these. Basically the buffer mimics a persons natural hand motion, except it goes 100x faster.

Just use common sense. Make sure the car is clean and dry before using it. Make sure the polish you use is not to abrasive. Thats about it, really idiot proof.
