Washing your car in the rain
Washing your car in the rain
Damn, it's gonna rain this weekend!!!
I really want to clean off the bugs on the front of my car (before they cake in) as well as the mud streaks along the sides and back (from the previous rainstorm on Monday/Tuesday).
Does anyone see any problem doing this in the rain?

I don't see anything wrong with that, although your neighbors might think you're crazy.
Do you have a garage to put it in afterwards or is it just in your driveway? I definately would wash it if there's bird droppings or tree sap on your car because it could eat into your paint.
I've washed my car in the rain before but it wasn't raining when I started washing it. In the middle of my wash, it started to rain. No big deal. I just finished it up and brought it in the garage to dry it.

Yeah, I have a garage, fortunately. I might even go home tonight and wash it. I don't know what the neighbors will think is more strange: someone washing their car at night, or in the rain.

LOL. Actually, I've done that too. Sometimes, when my car is too dirty, I can't wait for the morning to wash it so I do it at night.
A detailing spray is just a spray you use to lightly clean your car on a regular basis. It is not abrasive or a wax. There are many on the market like Zaino Z9, Meguiar's, etc.... Go to any Kragen or Pep boys and there should be half a dozen different ones to chose from. They're about $6-$7 bottle. As to which is the best? Who knows. I personally think most are the same except Z9 might be a little better but you can only get that at the Zaino website.

Just make sure it's a long rain. If it's a short rain, it'll just grab all the dust and crap from the atmosphere and leave it on your car. I'd clean mud/bugs off, but I wouldn't expect to really count the end result as a "wash".

i love washing in the rain, best thing to do is hose it off really good and soap the car, then i let the rain wash the soap off, but this only works when it is pouring really really hard. then the water dries with no water spots cause its natural water with no chemicals.
