Keeping Engine Clean...suggestions?

Anyone have any good suggestions on how to keep my engine clean?

Since the car is new, I was going to get a spray bottle (with water of course), spray it and whipe it clean. Then I was going to use a plastic & rubber cleaner type of spray to make the plastic parts shine. Is this okay? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I sometimes use Simple Green to take off most of the dirt, then spray VERY LIGHTLY some silicone oil after washing off the SG and using my leaf blower to get rid of most of the water.

be careful with the silicone, i was told not to spray any on the air intake parts. the silicone will absorb through the plastic and get sucked through your intake contaminating your MAF sensor.

The silicone destroys oxygen sensors!
