Did you guys use Dawn before Zaino?

Did you guys follow the instructions on Zaino and use Dawn before you waxed the car? I read some people refuse to use Dawn on there car...even once. It seems some people just used a higher concentrate of car wash to remove any waxes/residue.

If you have waxed your car before, dawn helps remove old residue.

I figure better safe than sorry...it would suck to do the whole thing over again because zaino didnt bond well.

Yes. Then clay bar. Gave me a fresh start on the clear coat.

Dawn, Clay, then applied Zainos, worked great. Stripping everything off down to the clear allows the Zainos to bond better, like BlackonBlack said.

I used dawn first. The dealer had washed and waxed the car the week before when I bought it. I was able to get 3.5 applications out of 1 oz. It goes on a lot easier if you moisten the cotton applicator with Z6. The finish now has a wet look and feels so smooth!

Liquid Glass

Hard to believe there's not a raving argument in these forums about the relative advantages of Zaino vs. Liquid Glass. I've used Liquid Glass on a black car before, and once you get used to the back & forth application/removal method, Liquid Glass looks great.

I only washed it twice with Dawn to remove the old wax, my G was about 2 months old when I did, it worked pretty well. If yours is older and the paint doesn't feel like glass clay bar it.

Not to hijack, but what did you use (wash mit, mf sponge, etc) to wash the car with dawn?

^ Microfiber wash mit.

BTW - I did use Dawn. That is the only thing that will leave the car as squeeky clean as it did when I used it. For those of you who don't know, I just got an Blk 05 Coupe which has the white tapes and plastics and all the stuff (ask dealer to give it to me exactly as it came out the boat). She is covered up with the OEM Car cover till Saturday.

I will wake up at 5am, uncover her, and start bathing her. For those interested, I will post the progress (and list steps and products used) pics on this thread:

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-coupe-v35-2003-07/55067-3800-8-miles.html

I will Zaino Car-Wash, Zaino Clay, and THEN Dawn... so when I apply Zaino polish, it will be on a clean clearcoat.

Remember, it has to be the BLUE Dawn. Don't ask me why, maybe someone else can explain, but that's what Sal Zaino says...
