How to clean wheels?

I just got a set of new volks and washed my car for the first time last night. After hosing down the wheels, my rotors hazed over with a little rust. When I drove the car, the rust quickly rubbed off and made a mess of my new wheels. How do you guys prevent this?

Yup, the rotors get discolored almost imeadiately after washing everything down, it's fairly normal. What I do: is right after washing the car I take it for a short run around the block before the rotors start to oxidize, this seems to eliminate the problem.

The rust never hazed my rims... there is little rust on the rotors. Weird stuff...
