Door Dings! Arrrrgh!

Well it finally happened. I finally had an inconsiderate, absent minded, dipshit park next to me and give my my first ding. Left white paint on my Black G and everything. And I was very **** about parking places where this would not happen!!!

Anyways, I mentioned it to a couple of people and they said that I could get the ding "sucked out". Is there such a thing? Isn't the metal dented and the only way to fix it is with bodywork?

If anyone knows what can be done, please let me know cause everytime I look at the ding, I am both sad and pissed off. These confused feelings are killing me! I just want it gone!

Re: Door Dings! Arrrrgh!

There are ding repair places that can suck out small dings.

As for "isn't the metal dented" -- well, is it? There are dings and there are dents. Dings are smooth indentations, paint not chipped, no creases or folds in the metal. These can be repaired. Dents are sharper, and cannot be sucked out -- they must be filled, or the entire panel replaced, and then repainted.

Find a local ding doctor type place, and they can tell you if yours is a repairable ding, and how much it'll cost to fix (much less than body work with repainting).

I'm sure many of us know how you feel.. many fellow G owners here have been through it -- from scratches to fender benders to cars being ripped in half by semis. Good luck in your repair efforts.

Thanks ryoken.

Does anyone have any experiences on this? What's the cost? And how well does it work.

My ding is... well a ding. Doesn't look like a dent.

Works pretty good. Ihttp://www.dentwizard.com/ Ask the dealer. They probably have one specialist that comes over to do dings jobs. I think it is $125 for their services.

It does depend on where you are located but I had 3 barely visible ones taken out for $75 and the guy came to the house. Just make sure to ask if the ding is in a place that is hard to get to, that they do not cut anything up to get to it without your permission first.

Looks great and you won't see the dings anymore. In the mean time take take a good Cleaner/Wax to see if the white paint can be removed.

Good Luck.

Re: Door Dings! Arrrrgh!

If the paint is't damaged, I have a guy that can work wonders. HOWEVER....beware improper paintless dent repair. Unskilled people can ruin your body panel by bringing a dent out further than the original surface. I have a guy I will swear by who works around Westchester, NY and lower Connecticut, (PM me if you want a number). A not-too-bright female friend of mine sat on the hood of her BMW convertible, and since she was probably 200+ lbs at the time, she put a huge but-shaped dent on her car. My dentman got it out completely, I really was amazed.
