Spots
A few weeks ago I noticed what appeared to be mud on the front of my coupe. I washed the car two days later and the "mud" came off but it didn't come off easy. The "mud" on the windows required considerable scrubbing to remove. The "mud" on the paint came off but left a light red mark where it had been. This red stuff doesn't appear to be on top of the surface but in it. I tired using a clay bar on it but that didn't do anything. I also tried using kerosene on an inconspicuous spot and that didn't do anything either. Should I try a fine rubbing compound? Or something else?

Re: Spots
ok now im really clueless...the bumper is black when you remove the paint (its urethane, not metal)...and you have a white coupe.....geez...where would the red come from?!?!?!?! maybe it was cement on your car and then the detergent that you used to remove it caused an evil reaction in the paint?
I'm not sure if thats even possible
Try using your fingernail to scrub the bumper to see if the red stuff comes out.

Re: Spots
i thought it would be tar, you dont have to buy tar remover....tar can EASILY be removed by paint-thinner or any of that type of gasoline... just make sure you wax over that spot afterwards
I know you have tried Keronsene, but can you try paint thinner just incase?

Re: Spots
sounds like you were possibly behind someone or something that sprayed this crap out onto to ya from something...
go to the local body shop guy .. ask him/her what could possibly do this and if how to remove it etc and how to replace the clear ... that guy will know..
if its small enough ... a paint touch up pen from the dealer has paint on one end and clear on the other... but I wouldnt do that as it may not be fully flat and look ..... well odd.

Re: Spots
it was brake fluid. or at least without looking at any pictures and just reading descriptions i am almost posotive it was brake fluid.
if brake fluid is left on paint it will eat away at it. you are lucky you washed it off as quickly as you did. i think the only thing you will be able to do is have everything repainted.

Re: Spots
I had a similar experience with bird droppings.....and they could only have been there for less than 3 hours!!! One spot on the spoiler left a ring when I cleaned the dropping off, it almost looks like gasoline floating on top of water if you know what I mean, kinda rainbow colored.....and it appears to be right in the clear coat.....talk about paranoid.....there weren't even any trees....I think it is an evil aviarian plot.....I checked all around me in the lot....no $%%^&%$ on any other cars.....it's Hitchcock all over again
