cleaning tinted windows help

i had my windows tinted with formula one film, 38% all around ultimate series. the manager at the shop told me that its safe to clean the windows with any ammonia based cleaner. Anyways, i cleaned the tinted windows with windex, just one time...have I done any damage to the film? Its ok to use water to clean the film right? does anyone have pics of there formula one film? mine is not as dark. I wish i could of gone for 35 but they only offer 50, 38, and 28 for the ultimate series film. By the way i live in VA. I know it comes with a lifetime warrenty, but have i just voided the warrenty by cleaning the windows with windex?

38% is pretty light. i have 32% on mine... but i'm happy w/ it. i don't think you voided the warranty but there are plenty of ammonia free cleaners out there that are tint safe. i think the issue was the ammonia would harm the adhesive? i'm not sure. but water + MF towel is fine for cleaning smudges/oil off of tint.

Ya don't sweat it - in the future just use something without ammonia like Stoners or even a quick detail spray.

so, the tint hasn't faded at all since ever since i used windex? yeah, i wont be using any ammonia based cleaners from now on, just plain water and a cotton towel. can you guys post pictures of your fomula one tint? oh yeah another question, if i want to get a different shade say, change to 28% do i have to pay again? what about if the tint has bubbled or turned purple, can i use the free warrenty reciept to get a different shade instead of just replacing the bad tint?

if it bubbles/purples (not likely to ever happen with quality tint) then sure of course you could. to get darker tint it would require removal and replacement of the tint... so you pay again.

I use Stoners Invisible Glass (completely safe on tint) and a glass microfiber towel and it's a streak free shine everytime. This is a great product because one small spray on the microfiber towel and it's enough to do two to three windows. I apply it with one side of the microfiber towel and then fold the towel over and remove with another side of it.

I've got Formula One/pinnacle all around. The guy that did the install said Windex and ammonia won't do any harm, but Formula One tells you not to use it as it affects the glue more than the tint itself. That's just what I was told ... no first-hand experience.
