Crystal Guard question

Is it okay to use a car polish before applying CG? I have some Meguiar's Deep Crystal polish that I want to apply to my car, and I want to put CG over it.

They are usually pretty good at getting back to their customers

Re: Crystal Guard question

I already have 12 coats of Z2/Z5 combo on my car. I'm curious of the CG since the reaction on this board is so positive, and it seems really easy. I'll use my mother and sister's cars as guinea pigs since they keep bugging me to help them wax their cars. One's silver and the other's green. We'll see how it turns out.

Re: Crystal Guard question

sounds good
I just applied some CG to my car again today, its been 2 months since i did it last time..... I must say, the results are great again, took me about 45 mins total from start to finish. This includes washing the car, applying+spreading CG, drying the car, clean-up driveway, and putting away all materials!

Re: Crystal Guard question

If you have Zaino on the car already, you will spend some time buffing CG. This goes away more w/ every coat of CG. Remember a little goes a very long way. One to two spritz's of CG per panel is sufficient. Apply more and you'll be doing alot of buffing.

Re: Crystal Guard question

Does anyone know the discount code for the small bottle of CG or is that not valid anymore?

Re: Crystal Guard question

Update:

According to Jim Campos, "You can put it over the polish, but the CG will only last as long as the polish does on the car. Same goes for wax. CG is really a replacement for polishes and protects better. But there is no harm if you put it over the polish if you wish..."

I'm too cool for a signature.

Re: Crystal Guard question

sweet, thanks for the update

Basically he is recommending to use CG straight up without any waxes or polishes underneath...

Hmmm......does anyone want to try Zaino+CG???
That would look fresh!! Not to mention that both products last 4 months. ding ding ding! Its a perfect match!!

Re: Crystal Guard question

I'd suggest the CG on the bottom with the Zaino on top if you were going to mix the two, since CG lasts a little longer. But do you think you would be able to tell the difference? I mean, the car is already really shiny with the CG. Will get get significantly more shiny (especially for the time, effort and money) after applying Zaino? I'm thinking probably not.
I'm with you, if there is a way to make the car look better, I'm all for it. But I don't know if this is going to get it.

Re: Crystal Guard question

CG does not last longer than Zaino, they last about the same time, 4 months. I would recommend Zaino as the primary coat, and CG on the top, to finish off your Z2/Z4/Z6/Zfx applications (Zaino confuses the hell out of me, sorry for my ignorance)
