Should I let the dealer detail?
Should I let the dealer detail?
I'm picking up my coupe on saturday and I told the dealer not to wash or detail the car. They say there are glue marks from the covering and are asking me if i'm sure I don't want them to detail?
Should I let them detail the car? I'm worried about them putting swirl marks in the paint.

There was a thread about this awhile ago. You'll find differing opinions on the subject. I am of the opinion that I will not let a dealer, no matter how comfortable I am with them, wash or detail my car. I've had too many bad experiences and know enough about detailing to do the work myself. If you are confident in your ability to detail your car with having had no dealer prep, I would advise doing it yourself. Just my $0.02.
Strongly suggest doing it yourself. Most dealerships even ones that sell higher end automobiles have there detailers working on producing volume. For some reason they usually use rotary buffers which inevitably means they will probably screw it up. And by screw it up I mean parts of the car will look good but they usually will do something wrong that is usually hard to fix. Don't get me wrong not all dealers have bad detailers but the vast majority I know are. I have several friends who do detail work at or for dealers and I've heard them tell me some horror stories. Bottom line if you'll take the time to do it right you can and will do a much better job than them most of the time.
Oh yea my friend just got a brand new car from the dealership he works at. He does part time mechanic work and part time detailing and brought me his brand new car because he knows what happens when it gets prepared by the dealer. First car I ever detailed with 5 miles on it.
