Again, not that the black doesn't look awsome....but I am kicking myself for not getting the Lakeshore Slate Blue. The only reason why I didn't get it was because I couldn't get it with graphite interior. I think that combination would look awesome! But now I know it is easier to clean interior (which is the reason I didn't get the lighter colored interior) than it is to clean paint!

Tomorrow night is going to be a long night of waxing and polishing.

Oh, and autopainter....thanks for the advice and this is definately a labor of love....and a stress reducer!! (As much as an oxymoron as that sounds, it is true for me.)

Ok, so I detailed the outside of my car again, but this time with some new tools. I bought a tube of ScratchX, NanoWax, Reflections Wax, and Reflections Top Coat. To make a long story short:
1. The ScratchX did nothing but remove what wax I already had. I called the number and the guy was miffed like me. He said I would probably need a buffer, which I wasn't doing. So I did the rest of the car and plan on returning the stuff to them.
2. Next came the NanoWax. And I must say.....DAMN!!! It worked very well. I filled or removed (personally, I don't care as long as I can't see them) more than half of what was there. Went on easy and came off easy and that was doing a whole door panel at one time.
3. Next came Mothers Reflections Wax. This also worked very well. It went on smooth, but was a little more diffiicult to remove. Nothing too serious though.
4. Finally came Mothers Reflections Top Coat. This was a big disappointment. I put it on half of my hood and the part that I covered looked like it was before I started. It must have removed the wax. It wasn't suppose too. So I put another layer of Wax on top and it looked better.

All in all, many hours and this is just about all I want to do. I am very happy, so I am done with issue till the Spring, at the least. Maybe then I will get a PC. Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it. When I get some pics, I will post a few.

Good to hear you're happy. I know it can be infuriating working on black cars. One thing - ScratchX will work, but not on large areas, it's more like a spot removal product for bird etchings and stuff. It also requires quite a bit of elbow grease and multiple passes, so it might not have been the best for your car, but either way, send it back and lesson learned.

I think if you try a line of polishes from Poorboy's World and waxes from companies like Menzerna, Klasse and P21S you'll notice a great improvement in the outcome of your detail. Megs is good but these products are exceptional. And yes a PC will probably yield better results, especially during the polishing steps.
If you did this process instead you would have very dramatic results:
Poorboy's World SSR 2.5
Poorboy's World SSR 1.0
Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze
Menzerna Full Molecular Jacket
p21s Carnauba Wax

I agree with Punchit, but since you're working by hand I wouldn't bother with anything more abrasive than SSR1. Even SSR2.0 is tough to break down by hand, and SSR2.5 is very difficult unless you're using it on a very small area and rubbing really hard, which might just net you more marring.

Just get a PC in the spring. Even though this is a lease a PC should last 10-15 years, I am sure you'll use it on other cars in the future. It really is the best investment you can make regarding your cars paint, imo.
