Zaino Application after re-painted

My G35 Coupe DG is 3 weeks old, had some damage on the door due to a snapping power line that hit the side of my car. Long story, but they had to repaint the door and blend it in with the fender and the quarter. Came out perfect. However, just before the damage occurred I was ready to apply my first coat of Zaino. How long should I wait now that it's been repainted????

yeah, it is best to wait until the paint cures...if you park outside in the sun, it'll be faster..... 2-4 weeks, just to be safe

Yeah, you should wait on the repainted part, but do the rest of the car anyway.

Re: Zaino Application after re-painted

mac,
I'll be less specific on time and more specific on suggestion- Speak with the people that did the paint job. There are significant differences between paints. I had my Corrado painted with a Dupont paint following an accident a few years ago (the other driver's fault, I need to point out) and the shop that did the work, which was excellent btw (they really know their stuff) told me I could get to work polishing in about 3 weeks. My wife's Accord was just painted following an accident in January, with a Dupont paint, and I was given specific instructions (a nice page long paint care instruction sheet incl washing...- very handy) not to wax/polish for at least 45 days. Same paint mfg, diff paint-twice the wait time!
Bottom line, find out from the people that did the work. And then you will have peace of mind.

Cheers,
Derek

Re: Zaino Application after re-painted

tell ya what . .

Sal Zaino is a painter by trade and always offers this advice . .

2 weeks max . . one week is fine.
I zainoed one week old paint on a black car (hood) and it was always the best damned part of that car.

The paint cures chemically - doesnt off-gas as people like to remember in the good ole days . . and since Zaino has no abrasives, there is no harm . . .

Id also suggest claybarring the surrounding areas . . .to get everything off, overspray could be there . . .
